Beginnings...........
Loom N Essence is a full service fiber arts studio whose creative vision began in the beautiful Red Rock country of Sedona, AZ . Loom N Essence offers a cross section of spinning and weaving equipment to compliment the creative needs of the fiber artist in order to ensure your success.
We take pride in offering some of the best fibers available in today's market.
Sharon Poplawski, owner and founder of Loom N Essence, respectfully traces her love for the "old craft" to both of her grandfathers . Having been raised in a small New England mill town, I learned early to recognize their loyalty and appreciation for the trade, it wasn't just a job. Although I have spent many years away from those small mill towns, I am proud of my New England Heritage.
Their influence is the essence of my loyalty, dedication and creativity.
Lifes Journey....... "IOWA" - Native American Translation -
(Land Between Two Rivers)
January 2008 Loom N Essence travels east to Cedar Rapids, IA embarking on a journey aimed to mesh both personal and creative goals.
Summer 2008 brought Iowa to the forefront of the news with heartfelt coverage of the flooding and devastation to so many of it's towns and cities. In my opinion, Cedar Rapids takes it's life from the river, visually, economically, and traditionally. It is the river's life that flows thru the veins of the people of Cedar Rapids. Much like their pioneer ancestors, they are resilient, determined and to be respected.
As far as my creative side.... I am pleased to say that I am an active member of the local Cedar Rapids Fiber Arts Guild and a juried member of "Creative Colony" an astisan cooperative located in the historic Wohn Haus on Main Street, in Amana. The Wohn Haus was built in 1881 and served as an Amana Society communal residence. This warm spacious eight room building provides the perfect atmosphere to showcase any artisans work. Loom N Essence - Handwoven Collection
"Buffalo Bliss" Handwovens" Photo to the left is one of my many handwoven designs. This scarf was handwoven from 100% Buffalo Gold yarn and some unusual novelty yarn found in a yarn shop in Jerome, AZ. With a bit of amusement , along with the fact that I had heard many stores about the reputation once associated with the ladies of this small western town, this scarf is appropriately called "Madame Buffalo"
