Hand Dyed Shibori Silk Scarves
"SHIBORI" ......A Japanese term that describes several methods of dyeing cloth with patterns by binding, stitching, folding, twisting and compressing it.
Shibori, in Japan, dates back to the 8th century.
With Shibori, the dyer works in unison with the material, never in an effort to overcome their limitations but to allow full expression. The result is always a fascinating,
un-expected elemental design.

Handpainted Warp Concept: So much fun!!!!
A weaver actually gets a chance to become a painter.
Handpainted warp designing is a bit more than just taking a paint brush to your yarn then transferring the warp strings to your loom for weaving. You must take into consideration what dyes work on which yarns and approach the process with knowledge and safety in mind.
As a weaver, when you begin painting the warp yarn, you are already visualizing it on your loom. It is important that you know what color weft will compliment but not cover up your hand painted color design, what weave structure to use in order to showcase the warp design and not cover up all your color design work.
When transferring the warp strings to the loom, it is vital to avoid major movements of the warp string so as not to affect the design transfer.
